Session Title: Emerit Event Management Training and Certification: The Competitive Advantage

In this session, you’ll learn about the Event Manager National Occupation Standards, elearning and Certification program recently updated by Tourism HR Canada. You’ll find out how these were developed in partnership with industry participants, how you can access these resources and leverage them to advance your career, and how you can prepare to obtain your professional certification. The Emerit Certification and training are recognized as the gold standard in Canada and beyond. Event Management Professionals who obtain their certification have demonstrated the knowledge, skills and experience required to plan and deliver on their clients’ events, at the highest level of complexity required of the profession.

BIO:

Lyne Marcil holds a Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology with a minor in Measurement and Statistics. She has been providing expertise in Testing and Measurement for over 25 years to a variety of clients.

Over the course of her career, Lyne has been responsible for the management and development of national licensure and certification programs for various professions especially in the tourism sector, working with over 20 different occupations (e.g., front desk agents, event management professionals, food and beverage managers, hotel general managers) as well as in the health field, financial sector and international trade world. Lyne has also led several competency-based management projects, working with organizations such as the Supreme Court, Environment Canada, Ford Motor Company, and Alcan, to develop competency profiles for various positions as well as assessment tools for selection purposes and performance management.

As Director of Psychometric Services with Tourism HR Canada, Lyne was instrumental in the development and implementation of the recently developed Tourism Competency Framework as well as the updates to the National Occupational Standards. She is also responsible for the Emerit Certification Program.
